Olabisi Titilope Akinsanya currently attends Confederation College completing the Human Resources Management, as well as the International Business Management Programs. Not only is she dedicated to her studies, Olabisi also dedicates herself to giving back to the community in any way she can. Since arriving to Thunder Bay over a year ago, Olabisi has volunteered for many different organizations in efforts to improve the quality of life her fellow community members.

Whether raising awareness and funds for cancer research, mentoring new comers to the community, providing hands-on help at events that connect people with services or even helping with set-up on the same day she is receiving an award; Olabisi helps others in hopes that they also can achieve their dreams and goals as well. Olabisi considers Thunder Bay her home away from home and is grateful for the opportunities and connections she has made with others.

Joseph Osei Abibo, arrived to Thunder Bay in the middle of one the coldest stretches of winter. Thank-fully that didn’t deter from achieving his goals and building on the opportunities and great potentials he sees in Thunder Bay. Joseph is currently attending Confederation College and is in the Engineering Business and Safety Management Program.

Joseph is passionate about his community and works to assist other international students and new comers to the city. Joseph is committed to supporting those who are in need; he is a mentor to many and strives to see people succeed. His long term goals include using his skills in GIS to generate a geospatial database that will match mentor seekers with potential mentors in their respective fields. Joseph’s personal goal for the future is to provide a platform that will increase the visibility of the black community within Thunder Bay.
