The Presenters:
Shannon Skinner is the co-owner of Salonki Salon & Ethnic Beauty Supply located in Thunder Bay. Shannon is originally from St. Lucia and has lived in Thunder Bay for 10 years. In February 2020, Shannon opened her salon which for the first time in Thunder Bay, is a place which provides personal haircare services as well as hair and skin products to the afro and ethnic community in the city.
Michelle Lander has made Thunder Bay her home for over 20 years. Coming from Trinidad to Thunder Bay, Michelle started her own business - Global Creations - to fill a gap in the Black community for hair. Michelle not only 'did' hair but also connected with Youth Service providers to ensure that Black children in care throughout the region would have access to hair support, while teaching caregivers with no experience working with Black hair, how to.
Lydia Appoh currently studying medicine in Ukraine, Lydia's family has been in Thunder Bay for the last 4 years. Lydia has her own YouTube channel dedicated to hair healthy, how to complete different styles, and information that can help people strengthen their locks.
